Teams from the two largest U.S. markets take the court tonight in a must see matchup. This matchup has all the star appeal of a Broadway play meeting a Hollywood movie. In the first meeting at MSG in February, the Lakers pulled away in the fourth quarter for a double digit win. Keep in mind that there have been major changes in L.A. since that game. The addition of Luka Dončić to the Lakers lineup instantly puts them in contention for the West.
One thing to remember about pro athletes: They do not like to get embarrassed. Especially in big time games when many people are tuning in. For that reason, I’d expect to see a spirited Knicks effort here. That may not prove to be enough as the new look Lakers now have two closers in LeBron and Luka. However, it is rare to catch a quality NBA team that is motivated to avenge a tough home loss.
