No Place Like the Road…
Move over Dorothy!!! It’s not 1939 anymore.
It’s 2025 and we are not buying into that pipe dream anymore. When you hear statements like “Oh this team should win, they’re playing at home” or “This team can’t lose at home”… Well, not so fast my friends! It may be time for an update to those old mantras.
Please know that when you hear this type of statement in 2025, it confirms one of the laziest ways to look at sports. No analysis, no data, no thought, nothing. It is just holding on to those old mantras. Now if you’re not actually putting any skin into the game via fantasy, betting, etc, then those statements will not affect you at all. It’s just more noise in an already noisy world.
But if you are putting skin into the game, then that is when you will need to recognize the difference between signals and noise…
Or you will lose and accelerate your path to crushing your own bankroll.
After doing this for so many years, it eventually becomes second nature to be able to discern the difference between signals and noise. It is also critical to realize that luck plays a bit of a role in sports. While many people don’t want to admit that because they feel it diminishes their own value, luck will have a direct effect on your outcomes. Both ways!
Now just for a bit of fun, let’s say you were already anti-Dorothy and put in that 7-team parlay on all road teams on Monday, June 2, 2025 (Yes I added the date so you could reference this).
How would that have paid out???
Well, a $100, 7-team parlay wager on all the road teams on this specific day, based on closing lines would have yielded you…
$16,329.87
Looks like Dorothy should have stayed in the magical land of Oz. With that payout, she may have been able to afford an Uber back to Kansas. Don’t forget to tip!
