This one is not quite the matchup it used to be. While anything can occur over a short stretch of games in MLB, it is rare to see the Mets holding a 13-game lead over the rival Braves at this point in the season. It is also a bit rare to see the Mets holding the top spot in the NL standings over teams like the Dodgers and Phillies. Speaking of the latter, Philadelphia is now only two games behind New York in the NL East after a 5-game win streak from the Phils combined with the Mets getting swept by the Rays over the weekend.
Speaking of the Mets and Phillies, that series is coming up next weekend.
It has been a good start for the Mets. Let’s see if the fellas from Queens can get back on track during a visit to the South.
