It is quite rare that one of the best hitters in a lineup gets traded this early in the season. It is even rarer when that same player has an opportunity to face his former team so quickly after the trade takes place.
That is the backdrop for this weekend’s Red Sox-Giants series as Rafael Devers is in his new home in San Francisco and will “welcome” Boston to the Bay Area. When it comes to the players, there should be no animosity there. That is unless there were some other relationship issues which led to the trade.
It seems like a messy situation that will likely be mentioned multiple times throughout the broadcasts this weekend.
