Nuggets Watch… How Will the Team Fare Amidst Changes?
Firing a championship winning head coach along with the GM with only a few games remaining in the regular season could be seen as a bit of a red flag. When you add in the fact that the team is 47-32 and fighting for both home court in the first round of the playoffs and to stay out of the play in tournament, then it becomes a huge red flag.
What went wrong in Denver?
Two seasons ago, the Nuggets sat atop the basketball world as the Joker, Jamal, Aaron Gordon, KCP, Bruce Brown, etc, and former head coach Mike Malone delivered the first NBA championship to the city of Denver. While there have been some frustrations recently during the Nuggets current 4-game losing streak, it seems a bit sudden that Malone was let go now rather than after the playoffs. Perhaps the Kroenke’s have another coach in mind and want to head in a different direction.
The Kings are locked into the play in tournament and currently occupy the 9th spot in the West. If the Kings are able to hold this position, it will earn them a home game in the tournament, likely against the Dallas Mavs (who the Kings lead by one game). Sacramento will need to win two games to make the playoffs so getting the first one at home should be a high priority for the Kings.
